Laozi (Tao Te Ching)
The Tao Te Ching also translated as The Classic of the Way's Virtue(s), is a Chinese classic text traditionally credited to the 6th-century BC sage Laozi. The text's authorship, date of composition and date of compilation are debated. The Tao Te Ching, along with the Zhuangzi, is a fundamental text for both philosophical and religious Taoism. It also strongly influenced other schools of Chinese philosophy and religion, including Legalism, Confucianism, and Buddhism, which was largely interpreted through the use of Taoist words and concepts when it was originally introduced to China. Many Chinese artists, including poets, painters, calligraphers, and gardeners, have used the Tao Te Ching as a source of inspiration. Its influence has spread widely outside East Asia and it is among the most translated works in world literature.

Laozi
Laozi (literally "Old Master") was an ancient Chinese philosopher and writer. In traditional accounts, Laozi's personal name is usually given as Li Er, and his courtesy name as Boyang. A prominent posthumous name was Li Dan. He is the reputed author of the Tao Te Ching, the founder of philosophical Taoism, and a deity in religious Taoism and traditional Chinese religions. Some modern historians consider him to have lived during the Warring States period of the 4th century BC. Laozi is claimed by both the emperors of the Tang dynasty and modern people of the Li surname as a founder of their lineage. Laozi's work has been embraced by both Chinese Legalism and various anti-authoritarian movements. The core concept of his work is Wu wei; it can mean "not forcing" "acting spontaneously", and "flowing with the moment."
